Atica Shanghai is a Spanish restaurant from the same group behind Bottega, located just a block away on Changle Road. We actually found it after dinner at Bottega, just a short walk away.

We’ve recently started going to Bottega on Friday nights for our family dinner, so we were curious when we heard the same group had opened a Spanish restaurant nearby. After one of our usual meals, we walked over to take a look.
Atica and La Diosa sit in the same building. La Diosa is on the ground floor (in what used to be the Mansion Hotel) with some outdoor patio seating, while Atica is on the 5th floor with a rooftop terrace as well as the main indoor dining space.
What We Ordered at Atica Shanghai
We kept it simple and went with four tapas: tortilla de patatas (38 RMB), gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic and chilli oil, 88 RMB), croquetas de jamón ibérico (48 RMB), and Spanish ham and cheese (188 RMB).
The croquetas were the standout. Crisp on the outside, soft and rich inside, and properly packed with flavour. The gambas were also strong, with just enough garlic and chilli without overpowering the dish.
Wine
Instead of a traditional wine list, there’s a walk-in wine cellar. Not everything was priced yet, but the staff talked us through the options. We ended up with a house red just over 200 RMB, with plenty of higher-end bottles available if you want to spend more.
Service
Service here is a real strength. On our first visit, we only stopped by to take a look, but someone still came over to greet us. Since then, every time we’ve walked past, we’ve had a smile or a hello from the same waiter.
When we came back for dinner, it carried through. One of the staff even recognised us and said “nice to see you again”, which tells you a lot about how they run the place. The team are confident with the menu and happy to guide you through it. No awkward pointing at dishes or confusion when ordering.
Overall
If you’re looking for a Spanish restaurant in Shanghai that’s easy to enjoy without overthinking it, Atica Shanghai is a solid choice. The food is consistent, the setting works, and the service stands out.
Atica has now been added to our Friday night rotation alongside La Diosa, and it’s an easy one to come back to.
They’re planning a grand opening on 6th July 2025 to officially launch both venues.
