Retail Therapy

Below are some suggestions for places to shop, mostly shopping malls which also have a lot of places to eat. For grocery shopping suggestions, you can click here.

IAPM
Very nice mall with retail shops (Apple Store, Muji, etc) as well as a lot of food and beverage venues (Jade Garden, Lei Garden, Dintaifung etc).

Taikoo Hui
Starbucks Reserve Roastery and The Cheesecake Factory are both located here. Lots of other retail and food and beverage shops to explore in the mall as well as the connected hotels – Middle House Hotel and Sokhothai Hotel, both of which have decent bars and restaurants inside. It may not be an obvious shopping destination, but the Starbucks Roastery has quite a large selection of merchandice for sale which could make nice souvenirs or gifts.

Qian Tan Taikoo Li
Sister mall to Taikoo Hui located in Pudong, this is a newer mall and has more outdoor, open-air areas compared to Taikoo Hui, so a great choice when the weather is warmer and you're looking for some nice outdoor spaces to sit and enjoy a meal or a coffee.

Bicester / Shanghai Village
Outlet mall from the same group as Bicester Village in the UK. Very well designed, outdoor mall, with lots of famous brand names for lower-than-normal prices. You do have to look around to find some true bargains, but they can be found. There's also a decent selection of restaurants should you decide to grab a bite in between bargain hunting. You can combine this with a trip to Disneyland which is next door (but try to avoid Disney at weekends).

Gate M (West Bund)
This is a relatively new development by the river with lots of shops, restaurants, cafes and more - great to walk around and explore if the weather is nice. It is just a few minutes’ walk along the waterfront from the West Bund Museum area, so you could combine both places in one trip.

One of many dining options is Cilan, showcasing food inspired by China’s western Xinjiang region and Lenbach is another option for western style food.
